Okanagan Valley is almost dry enough to warrant being called a desert. Superlatives are constantly used to describe its unparalleled variety of its Desert/Mediterranean climate and landscape: hoodoos, orchards, vineyards, 400 million archaic mountains/stones/minerals within reach, wildlife, lakes, ski slopes, trails. This is truly one of the most desirable locales in British Columbia for year-round outdoor fun.

Built between 2004-2007 at the location of an old cottage, Villa Orion senses the natural tension between clay cliff's heights and depths overlooking Okanagan Lake and Penticton. Villa Orion has floor to ceiling glass, providing dramatic views and provoking spectacular fascination, introducing incoming light deep into the interior spaces. With emphasis on open, flowing interior spaces, the relationship between interior and exterior spaces, general use of glass and natural light, use of sun and shading to enhance human comfort, this villa is the epitome of modern architecture.

The gourmet kitchen has all of the luxuries you may expect: a professional-grade refrigerator, dishwasher, Wolf stove and high-grade counter-top appliances. Fine Chrysanthemum (flower of the Japanese Emperor) dishes & cups. Superior Versace chinaware: “Les Tresors de la Mer”. Fine dishes & glassware.

The dining area, close to the kitchen, can accommodate up to 6.
Great preparing meals overlooking one of the oldest peach orchard at the front of the property.

The spacious living room is a breath taking glass experience. Power metal blinds for all windows that roll down with a push of button for keeping the villa cool in summer & warm in winter. Huge windows for great views of the surrounding lake, mountains, town from both the first and second stories. Heat from the fireplace is flowing into pipes through concrete cliff wall – a copy of the unusual pinnacle eroded from the glacial lake silt just below the villa - to heat living room.

The master bedroom offers a king size bed, from which you can look deep down into downtown Penticton. The master bath is spa-like, featuring a hydro massage system, a Jacuzzi bath and cosmetics. The western bedroom offers a king size bed and its own deck facing south. High thread count sheets and bathrobes, cosmetics, designer decorated and linens of highest quality.

On the first floor, relax with the LED LCD TV, BOSE digital home theatre speaker system, CD/DVD player, digital music channels, high-speed Wi-Fi and video game consoles. On this floor, you will also find a third bed, queen size, at the mezzanine for the extra (5th and 6th) guests and the third bathroom.

Outside the first floor relax on the partly covered southwest patio in the outdoor lifestyle furniture, perfect for sunbathing, cocooning or reading with breathtaking landscapes.

Available on the western outdoor terrace is a new barbecue-set and a granite & stainless steel picnic table (+ 8 chairs). Four landscaped gardens in the style of famous Dutch landscape architect Piet Oudolf. Waterfall in Japanese garden. Four sunbathing terrace chairs in front of living room + 2 before western bedroom. Solar lamps at terrace decks. Huge Wind “Monk” Gong Pipes in forest “island” with meditation area. Gate entrance to the Kettle Valley Trail for reaching the silent publich beach, a 7 minutes walk down the cliffs.

Exclusive artwork throughout the property - outside villa is “protected” by five Japanese pagodas temples and six Chinese Xi’an soldiers from the first emperors’ hidden army. Inside villa has paintings from Phil Clark, Diana Peel and John Revill. A bronze from Linda Steward. A blue alabaster sculpture from Kevin Peters. A Jade Bear from Lyle Sopel. A Polar Bear from Rodney Kalausok (Nation = Inuit). A modern Chandelier from Brand & van Egmond. And many (Muse Gazing) Crystals (for example from Ken Rains) throughout the villa.

Expectations Exceeded!

The Villa Orion is a wonderful place to spend a holiday in the Okanagan. The villa is beautifully furnished and the setting is spectacular. We were able to walk to a number of excellent restaurants and also to downtown Penticton. As well we had a couple of long walks on the KVR through vineyards and orchards. We would highly recommend the Villa Orion. Caretaker Lori was a gracious hostess and most helpful in getting us settled in.
