Bordeaux

Alain Jupp, Mayor of Bordeaux, launched an urban project in 1996 to clean of façades, develop the quays along the Garonne river, commission the tram that runs on a ground-level power supply and to re-qualify urban areas.

This strengthened the desire to protect and showcase Bordeaux heritage. Now, Bordeaux, Port of the Moon, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007.

Bordeaux has more than 350 classified buildings and buildings listed as Historic Monuments, including 3 religious World Heritage buildings since 1998 as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostella in France.

Guests may discover by foot the architecture that has hardly had any stylistic changes over the last two centuries, the quarter of Saint-Michel built around the flamboyant Gothic style Basilica and Sainte-Eulalie situated to the south west of the Mediaeval city wall and departure point for Spain and Compostella. Or find out about the newly renovated quays of the Garonne, the Port de la Lune, and Bordeaux's six bridges by river cruise.

Opera/Theatre

Bordeaux has a rich culture of music and dance. Operas, operettas, classic ballet, contemporary dance, orchestras, and theatre performances are yours to choose from.

Museum

From arts and crafts, old masters paintings, wine and vine to mention but a few, Bordeaux has many museums that preserve and showcase the regions historic and artistic heritage.

The Oyster House in Larros port, houses a modern scenographic museum entirely devoted to the techniques of oyster farming.

Arcachon

In 1823 the first Hotel emerged on the seashore at the entrance of the Bassin d'Arcachon. In 1857 the railway of La Teste is extended until Arcachon, and in 1862 the city planning took effect. Arcachon was born. Opulent villas of different styles appear in a maze of small alleys curved so as to be protected from the strong cold northerly winds, thus called The Winter Town.

The eclectic architecture of the bourgeois villas nestled in the Historic listed building site, The Winter Town, can be discovered by foot or by a little train. Enjoy the unique panoramic view over the Bay at the top of the belvedere.

Biganos

By advance arrangement guests can visit the 12 hectares farm of Caviar de France, the first sturgeon farm in France, and learn all the secrets of caviar farming in a unique environment. The fish is being raised under the most stringent hygienic and natural conditions and without conservation products.

At the end of the visit guests can experience the salty taste and smooth texture of the Caviar de Gironde with a glass of Champagne.
