Over the years the villa became known for their child friendly “kidsproof” environment. The owner experienced that children’s wellbeing guarantees a perfect holiday for everyone. Mums and dads can relax!
The villa provides complimentary baby cots, baby beds, baby chairs.
Toys, puzzles, bikes, a trampoline, a sandbox, swing are all available....Children have the room (2 hectares of garden!!) and freedom to run around and play!
The gated pool is safe, even fitted with an alarm. On the wooden terrace the jacuzzi is always at about 36°C.
The tennis court in the village is only a few minutes walk.
Le Pigeon Voyageur is a self-catering accommodation. However...
Every morning the baker passes by the house with fresh, warm bread and croissants.
Catering can be arranged for, on reservation. The villa works with a top-chef that comes and cooks at Le Pigeon Voyageur. He speaks fluent English and used to work with Eric Deblonde (Maître Cuisinier de France) at the Ritz, for Mohammed Al Fayed at Harrods, and afterwards for some well known French restaurants.
Other possibilities are wine tasting and “table d’hôte” at a vineyard.
A long list of local restaurants is provided and there is an excellent restaurant, around the corner, within walking distance.
During the summer there are a lot of evening markets with local food, live music and dance!
Things to do
Montazeau is one of the highest villages of the neighbourhood. It’s located at about 10 km south of Saint Martin de Gurson, where the owner live. Montazeau offers beautiful views over other villages in the distance and extensive vineyards.
It’s a lovely area with lots of tiny streets. Walking and biking is enjoyable in a hilly landscape.
At about 5 min. there’s a bigger village with bakeries, a convenience store, a pharmacy, a post office, pub, restaurant. At 10 km you find all larger supermarkets.
Places to visit:
Every day there are local markets in different places. In summer it’s worth going to an evening market with live music, local food, dancing!
15min : Montpon, little “practical” town where you find several supermarkets and on Wednesday a nice local fresh market.
15min : Sainte Foye La Grande, a « bastide » . Small nice town but comes mostly alive during the Saturday market ! classified as one of Frances nicest markets!!
30min : Saint-Emilion : A must!!! Nicely renovated wine village, known from all over the world and protected! Lots of little old narrow streets. Lots of wine boutiques (expensive!!!). Go and drink a glass of local champagne in the ruines of the old abbey of Les Cordeliers. You by tickets for a visit to the monolytic church at the tourist office.
30min : Bergerac. Old and new part of the city. Small city again. Markets on Wednesday and Friday. Monbazillac is close and famous for its sweet white wines. Beautiful château! Eat at La Tour des Vents in Monbazillac!!!
30min : Libourne. Worth a visit at Sunday morning! or combine when going to St Emilion or Bordeaux. Take the little roads to go there, not the motorway!!
30min : Riberac. Friday market. Quiet town, take a quick stop when going to Aubeterre.
45min: Aubeterre: wonderful art village; has a monolitic church! Amazing!
30min: Castillon La Bataille: not very special; only at market days (Monday). In July and August the village organises a big show at the site of a castle with hundreds of actors and horses...playing a 100 years old war! An exceptional experience!
45min : Bordeaux. A mix between Antwerp, Barcelona and Parijs. A world city, easily visited by foot! You can walk here for hours and hours. Little streets, the river, shopping, terrasses, antiques, ....so many things to do and to see! You cannot miss Bordeaux!!
45min : Périgueux. A bit smaller than Bordeaux. Do the walk around the old part of the city (by following the arrows). Worth a visit!!
45min : Brantôme. The Venice of the South. The Dronne River runs through the center, which makes it very beautiful. You can take a ride with a small boat.
30-75min : From Bergerac to Sarlat : Dordogne Valley, with Sarlat, Domme, Beynac, St Christophe, Limeuil, Lalinde, Lanquais… lots of little lovely places to visit: prehistorical caves, castles etc….
30-75min : the Bastide tour, small middle aged villages such as Eymet, Monpazier, Beaumont
1,5h : Atlantic Ocean: Arcachon, Dune de Pyla, beautiful beaches, extrordanary dune, worth a day trip!
For the little ones:
Of course the pool might be the most interesting for your kids, there are fun things to do for them in the neighbourhood! There is a lake with a beach and a play ground at a 2 min drive and a bigger one at a 20 min drive….you can go canoeing on the Dordogne River or the Isle River….they owner organizes horse riding every week….you can take your youngsters into the caves or castles….
Live like a local!
Welcome to the wine country!
We're in the heart of wine country in Montazeau! Here you can enjoy award-winning local red, rosé and white Bergerac and Montravel wines, made at properties a short distance from your holiday home.
Just 30 minutes away are St. Emilion and Pomerol, exclusive districts of the vast Bordeaux vineyards and home to some of the finest (and at Ch. Petrus, the most expensive!) wines in the world.
The owners can organise a tour of a vineyard on request.
